Projects, chats, and saving

Understand local-first projects, project chats, publication, synchronization, and offline work.

Sympose Studio keeps the active copy of your work on your computer. You can create, edit, close, and reopen a local project without first publishing it to the cloud.

Projects and chats

A project owns the arrangement, tracks, clips, devices, automation, settings, assets, and run history. A project can contain several chats, which let you separate different lines of work without separating the music.

Start a fresh chat when you want a clean conversational context. Sympose still reads the relevant current project state before acting.

Saving locally

Project edits are saved through Sympose’s local project store. You do not need to use a manual Save command after every change. Watch the status area when closing the app immediately after a large import, recording, or agent run.

Local-only projects can remain local indefinitely. Losing access to the network does not remove the local project or prevent direct editing and playback with already available assets.

Publish to the cloud

Publication is an explicit action. Use it when you want cloud backup and synchronization for a project.

  1. Choose the project’s publish or sync action.
  2. Sign in if Sympose asks you to authenticate.
  3. Resolve missing or uncollected assets if publication is blocked.
  4. Keep editing if needed; Sympose records later edits and synchronizes them after publication completes.

A failed or interrupted publication leaves the local project usable. Retry when the connection or missing dependency is available.

Understand sync states

  • Local only — The project exists on this computer and has not been published.
  • Publishing — Sympose is preparing the cloud copy and transferring required assets.
  • Blocked — A dependency, permission, authentication, or conflict needs attention.
  • Syncing — Local operations or assets are being reconciled with the published project.
  • Synced — The published project has acknowledged the current local changes.
  • Offline — Direct local work continues; cloud synchronization and new agent requests wait for connectivity.

Cloud status only describes synchronized work. It does not imply that unsynchronized local changes are available elsewhere.

Project operations

Rename, duplicate, and remove projects from the desktop project navigation. A duplicated project is independent of its source. Treat deletion as destructive and follow the confirmation shown by the app.

For sync and publication failures, see Troubleshooting.
