How credits work

How Sympose credits are earned, what they pay for, how agent and sound costs are worked out, and what happens when you run low.

Credits are the one balance that pays for the agent and for sound generation in Sympose Studio. Every plan includes credits, and you can add more at any time.

Current prices, monthly credit amounts, and boost pack sizes are on the pricing page. Your live balance is on your account page and in Settings → Plan & Usage.

Getting credits

  • Free plan. A small allowance that refills each day, for a smaller set of fast models.
  • Pro and Premium. A monthly allowance, plus frontier models and your own API keys. Premium has a larger allowance than Pro and the same models. Yearly plans cost less and still refill every month.
  • Boost packs. One-time credits you can buy on any plan, from the pricing page or from Upgrade in Studio. Boost credits don’t expire while your account is open.
  • Promo codes. Redeem a code in Settings → Plan & Usage. Each code works once per account, and its credits don’t expire unless the promotion says otherwise.

You see one balance. Behind it, Sympose spends your plan’s allowance first and your boost and promo credits after that.

When your allowance refills

Your plan’s allowance resets at each refill: daily on Free, and at each monthly renewal on Pro and Premium. Unused allowance does not carry over. Boost and promo credits are not affected by a refill, and they stay until you spend them.

When you change plans:

  • Upgrade. You get the extra credits for the rest of the current month straight away.
  • Downgrade. Your current allowance stays until the next renewal, then the lower allowance applies.
  • Cancel. Your paid allowance ends with the subscription. Boost and promo credits stay on your account.

What uses credits

Agent requests

The agent is charged as it works. A request can take several steps, for example reading your project, making an edit, then checking the result, and each step is charged when it finishes. A request always costs at least a small minimum.

What a request costs depends on:

  • The model you choose. Each model has its own rate. Fast models cost the least, and frontier models cost the most.
  • How much the agent reads. The agent reads your project and the conversation so far. Context it read moments earlier in the same chat is often cheaper to read again.
  • How much the agent writes. Writing costs more than reading, so long answers and large edits cost more than short ones.

Big projects, long chats, and wide edits cost more than a quick question on a small project. To spend less, pick a fast model for simple tasks, and start a new chat when you change topic.

Sound generation

Each generated sound costs a fixed amount, and you are only charged when the sound arrives. If generation fails or times out, the credits are returned.

On the Free plan and during a trial, sound generation is paid from boost and promo credits, not the free daily allowance. On an active paid plan it uses your monthly allowance first.

Your own API keys

On Pro and Premium you can add your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google key in Settings → Models → Model provider keys. Agent requests that run on your key are billed by that provider and do not use Sympose credits. See Settings.

When you are not charged

  • A request you stop before the model has responded.
  • A sound that fails, times out, or never arrives.
  • Requests that run on your own API key.

A step that has already finished is still charged if you stop the request afterwards, or if a later step fails.

Running low

When your balance is low, a banner above the chat input shows what is left and when it refills. Each step of a request needs a small minimum balance to start. If your balance runs out partway through a request, the request stops before its next step, and your balance never goes below zero.

When you are out of credits, you can:

  • Wait for your allowance to refill.
  • Buy a boost pack.
  • Upgrade your plan from Upgrade in Studio or the pricing page.
  • Redeem a promo code in Settings → Plan & Usage.
