Create and record automation

Shape parameters over time with lanes, breakpoint editing, recording modes, and agent assistance.

Automation changes a supported parameter over arrangement time. Each lane belongs to a track and identifies one target, such as a mixer, instrument, or effect parameter.

Add a lane

Open a track’s automation lanes, then choose a target. Sympose creates a lane attached to that track so timing and context remain visible with the clips it affects. Opening the lanes does not create automation by itself.

Only parameters declared as automatable appear as targets. Units and value ranges match the corresponding Device or mixer control.

Each lane header can enable, disable, or delete that lane. Disable keeps the envelope but uses the current mixer/device value; delete removes the lane.

Mixer and device controls

A small marker on a control means that parameter has a lane. While the lane is on, playback follows the envelope. Dragging the control in Read turns the lane off and keeps your last setting — click the marker to follow the envelope again. Touch, Latch, and Write still record into the lane when write is armed.

Edit points

Add, move, or delete breakpoint points in the lane. The line between points describes how the value changes over time. Disable a lane when you want to preserve it without applying it.

Record automation

Choose the appropriate automation mode and explicitly enable writing for the intended target. Recording state is visible because Write-style behavior can overwrite existing motion.

Stop recording to commit the captured envelope. Sympose returns to a safe non-writing state according to the selected release behavior.

Ask Sympose to automate

Give the musical range and purpose:

Open the pad filter gradually through the final eight bars, then return it before the outro.

Agent-authored automation appears on the affected lane and in the run summary. Audition it in context, edit points directly, or revert the operation.

Avoid conflicting edits

If newer manual work changes the same target, Sympose reports a revision conflict rather than overwriting it during a stale retry or revert.

Continue with Effects and mixing.
