Formats and system requirements
Review current desktop requirements, supported file formats, permissions, and import limits.
The Sympose download page is the source of truth for supported operating systems, hardware requirements, release versions, and installer guidance.
MIDI
- Import standard MIDI files into new or existing projects.
- Export committed arrangement notes as MIDI for downstream editing. Exported files include notes and tempo, not program-change events, so a DAW track keeps the program already assigned to it.
- Use supported class-compliant MIDI controllers for input and recording.
Audio import
Sympose Studio currently accepts:
- WAV
- AIFF and AIF
- FLAC
- MP3
- OGG
The current desktop import limit is 256 MB per audio file. Files longer than roughly two minutes may trigger a memory-use warning because playback prepares decoded audio locally.
Audio recording and export
Audio recording creates WAV assets through the native desktop engine. Mix and stem export produce WAV files. Project bundles preserve Sympose project state and portable dependencies; MIDI export does not include audio or device sound.
Permissions
Your operating system may require permission for:
- Microphone or audio input
- MIDI devices
- Reading an imported file
- Writing to an export destination
Grant permission only through the operating-system prompt or picker. Sympose and its agent cannot grant access on your behalf.
Local storage
Projects, downloaded instruments, recorded audio, imported assets, and export staging require local disk space. Keep the source asset available until Sympose has collected it into the project. The app reports missing or invalid dependencies during playback, publication, and export.
