Keyboard shortcuts

Find commands and use keyboard control across transport, arrangement, Clip view, Device view, Mix view, chat, and settings.

Open the command palette to search available actions and see their current bindings. Tooltips and context menus repeat shortcuts where they are useful. This page is finalized against the release command registry before launch.

Context matters

Sympose routes a shortcut to the focused musical surface:

  • Arrangement commands act on selected clips or tracks.
  • Clip commands act on notes or audio content.
  • Device commands act on the selected instrument or effect.
  • Chat commands act on the composer or active run.
  • Text fields retain normal text-selection and clipboard behavior.
  • Selected chat message text also copies with the system Copy shortcut.

Single-key musical commands are suppressed while the typing keyboard or a text field owns input.

Stable conventions

These universal bindings are stable across the release workspace:

Action macOS Windows / Linux
Play or pause Space Space
Undo ⌘Z Ctrl+Z
Redo ⌘⇧Z Ctrl+Shift+Z
Copy / cut / paste ⌘C / ⌘X / ⌘V Ctrl+C / Ctrl+X / Ctrl+V
Select all in focused context ⌘A Ctrl+A
Delete selection Delete / Backspace Delete / Backspace
Dismiss or leave focused state Esc Esc
Settings ⌘, Ctrl+,
New project ⌘N Ctrl+N

Detail Panel

These shortcuts show one Detail Panel view. Mix does not stack with Clip or Device. The arrangement stays above the panel.

Action macOS Windows / Linux
Show Clip ⌘⌥3 Ctrl+Alt+3
Show Device ⌘⌥4 Ctrl+Alt+4
Show Mix ⌘⌥5 Ctrl+Alt+5

Release command groups

The command palette is the complete source for final bindings across:

  • Projects, chats, panels, and settings
  • Transport, loop, metronome, and recording
  • Track selection, mute, solo, arm, duplicate, and rename
  • Arrangement clip creation, movement, split, duplicate, and delete
  • Piano-roll tools, note transforms, grid, velocity, and zoom
  • Device navigation and instrument selection
  • Chat focus, run stop, plan actions, and change review

If a documented binding disagrees with the release command palette, use the palette and report the docs mismatch.
